From Barnstead Antiques to Vintage Classics

Randy’s journey into collecting began the classic way — through generational antiques shaped by time, family stories, and pieces that quietly hold history. That early foundation deepened through years of estate and yard sales, where he learned what lasts, what fades, and what collectors truly value.

As trends shifted, so did Randy’s focus. What began broadly eventually evolved into a passion for diecast models, where precision, nostalgia, and condition meet. Today, Trinkets and Treasures is best known for its selection of diecast NASCAR, trucks, and classic cars — items that often carry steep price tags elsewhere, but here remain refreshingly affordable.

That affordability is intentional. Randy wants collectors to find what they’ve been searching for — the missing piece in a series, or one more step toward completing a collection. His booth is interesting, yet approachable, welcoming seasoned collectors and curious newcomers alike.

Behind the booth is a depth of knowledge built over decades. Randy grew familiar with antiques through dealers in Aylmer, developing a keen eye — particularly for Avon. True to the name Trinkets and Treasures, not everything appears at once; some original finds remain tucked away, waiting their turn to be brought up from the basement and back into circulation. And if Avon ever makes a comeback in the collecting world, Randy will be ready.

A Local Staple

Before settling locally, Randy spent three years as a vendor at the Quaker Barrel during its transition into Countryside Vendors Market. When the location eventually closed, he found long-term stability at Van Zelst’s Market, where he now proudly celebrates ten years as a local vendor.

Community Involvement

Community has always been part of Randy’s story. He has participated in the Chatham-Kent Toy Show across multiple years — from 2019 through 2026. His continued return reflects both consistency and commitment to the collector community. (Event image captured from the 2025 Toy Show as seen below.)

Looking ahead, Randy plans to expand his Toy Show presence throughout Southwestern Ontario, including Aylmer, Glencoe, Listowel, Woodstock, and Essex. Each show is another opportunity to connect collectors with pieces they’ve been hunting for — and to keep collecting fun, accessible, and local.

If you’re searching for something specific, chances are Randy wants you to find it just as much as you do.
